Human identity is created to be a mark of God’s glory. From the moment we are born as a man or a woman to the last bit of our breath, we are designed with purpose. A purpose that passes through challenges of the earth. For God has placed Adam to live on earth and face the tribulation of the ground, from where he is taken, as a result of his sin.
The Fall and Its Consequences
Genesis 3:
23 So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
The sinful nature of human becomes ongoing and up until today, every human is born and given birth with sin.
David in Psalms 51:
5Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.
The God who chased out Adam, was marcyful enough, for he has loved the world before he created it. For he is sovereign and just.
God’s Love Revealed in Christ
John 3:
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
Christ is our Christmas centre. We are created with purpose and he came to fulfil our purposes, as those who are redeemed by his birth.
May this Christmas season be a season of being born again.
